Glimpse of 2011

Started the year projecting to be active in the amateur racing scene again... its only partly true during the initial stages.

First quarter of the year, tried finishing roxy without the stand alone engine management. Instead focused on the suspension and brakes, and trying to remove whats left in the "riceness" of the car.

First trial was on the autocross near festival mall alabang.Result was not impressive.
2'14 on a damn turbo is way too slow. Tammy back then was playing with turbo cars head to head and I'm usually less than a sec or 2 off from the fastest time. This time i believe they are running on 2'5 secs. I'm way way far behind!!! hahaha...

I know my driving was a big contributor but i'm also disappointed with the following:
1. Turbo leaking oil
2. Piggy back tuning for a turbo. (no where near the optimum tune)
3. sliding clutch
4, untuned suspension and alignment

but, i would say its baptism by fire for Roxy. Welcome to my world Roxy!

Next run was on Circuit Showdown Round 1 @ BRC. I was only running on 2'08 mins for the long track. All the issues from earlier still apparent. (lol!)

but we managed to get 2nd place for bracket E (2'08).

1st Place - Mark Arce - MLPh
2nd Place - AJ Lacambra - MLPh
3rd Place - Uly Paredes - MLPh

MLPh FTW!

after that, Roxy had her engine overhauled by Benj Go (initial_B in www.mitsulancerph.net) and installed e420c adaptronic standalone ECU.

There was no picture of the installation but definitely the car ran smoothly.

We initially thought that the sliding clutch was due to uneven surface of the flywheel. But after the built. The clutch was still sliding. so we had to change the clutch to an aftermarket one.

It was not easy finding all the quirks from the car. We also figured that Roxy had a frontal collision not sure on what but the lower cross member was twisted and had the bolts lost its threads, also the front are lower by an inch. Benj also had those corrected. (Thanks again Benj!)

Philippine Endurance Cup - this is the time in which MLPh bought an ex taxi chassis and build it as a race car. Honestly at the onset, I thought i was excluded from the team. I was not included in any of the discussion that came about the project race car.

So there I was not meddling with them on any inputs regarding the race car's progress. I just snooped around on whats the progress. This was a time in which Roxy was being overhauled, I'm busy with work, and did not gave much time on MLPh boards. Until I got Roxy completely rebuilt I did not engaged from any discussion regarding races. (thats my way of avoiding jealousy to other racers).

Anyway, when Roxy's back, was also the time that MLPH had their drivers qualifying. My time was 2'18, 2'16, 2'15. The point of the qualifying was to know who has the highest repeatability. There were 12 drivers qualifiying. If it was about the fastest time, I would be the first. (but it's not! its repeatability.)

but that turned out to be a blessing. Pilip decided to compete in FM2 (160 hp or less) with his car "black Wing" (CS2 chassis, Cedia). therefore I will be driving black wing in the endurance cup.

I'll try to put a blow by blow account on what happened in the PEC (Philippine Endurance Cup) on one of my next posts.

Review of 2010

It has been a year since my wife gave birth to a strong and intelligent son "Alonso Marcus" - in which by the way he's actually my replica.. take a look

Autocross and Slalom for Kookie Ramirez:
Back then Kookie was trying to fight his cancer and was trying to help Kookie raise some money for the therapy.

and my rusting driving ability showing off... hahaha...

it was just a minor scratch, no effect on the underbody. (lucky!).. and now the timed lap! (tada!!!)

Decommissioning
1. SIR dubbed as "The Last Lap"
Attendance are as usual

Could'nt find any videos from this escapade.. sorry!...
but in a nut shell, there was
night slalom - most of the track were pitch black, and it ended 2 am. :)
wheel to wheel race with your buddies on wet track! I've spun Tammy more than twice! hehehe...
RWYB - Nothing unusual happened. Its race as usual.

2. Tammy

Yep... It's time... I felt its the right time to decommission Tammy from racing. She has been unreliable on track, but on daily drives she doesn't even have any issues. No blown engine yet as we speak... hehehe.. but she will stay within my arms reach... Tammy has a new master (Jimbo, my brother)... see you around Tammy! Thanks for all the good times! I still love you even if i think about the bad situations you've given me.. :))

Tipidracing has a new face - Roxy

Thats it for now... next blog will be about Roxy's steps on how to become race ready.
Meet Roxy before the change:
