Review of 2010

It has been a year since my wife gave birth to a strong and intelligent son "Alonso Marcus" - in which by the way he's actually my replica.. take a look

Autocross and Slalom for Kookie Ramirez:
Back then Kookie was trying to fight his cancer and was trying to help Kookie raise some money for the therapy.

and my rusting driving ability showing off... hahaha...

it was just a minor scratch, no effect on the underbody. (lucky!).. and now the timed lap! (tada!!!)

Decommissioning
1. SIR dubbed as "The Last Lap"
Attendance are as usual

Could'nt find any videos from this escapade.. sorry!...
but in a nut shell, there was
night slalom - most of the track were pitch black, and it ended 2 am. :)
wheel to wheel race with your buddies on wet track! I've spun Tammy more than twice! hehehe...
RWYB - Nothing unusual happened. Its race as usual.

2. Tammy

Yep... It's time... I felt its the right time to decommission Tammy from racing. She has been unreliable on track, but on daily drives she doesn't even have any issues. No blown engine yet as we speak... hehehe.. but she will stay within my arms reach... Tammy has a new master (Jimbo, my brother)... see you around Tammy! Thanks for all the good times! I still love you even if i think about the bad situations you've given me.. :))

Tipidracing has a new face - Roxy

Thats it for now... next blog will be about Roxy's steps on how to become race ready.

New Record! 58.22 sec for a 1300 cc car!

Its an RWYB race weekend again, this time i left without tammy... Tammy's restoration is still a work in progress...

So Almay and I hitched with Philip and KR, drove black wing from QC to Subic, the 4g18's response is nice. its just lacking torque, its probably because its carrying 4 adults with some tools and equipment inside the trunk. Was trying to make a top speed again but all the passengers where ranting not to. (Killjoy!)

We left Manila by 7:30 pm Saturday and arrived at Subic by 10:30ish, Met up with MSC, (Pat, Jun who drove to Subic earlier that day), Prepped Warcar (patrick's 94 Mitsubishi Lancer EL) at BnJ autogarage
We stayed overnight to secure a covered parking, so the intention is to go to SIR 6 in the morning to park the car, and THEY did that. hehehe... Im not a morning person anymore, Ihate waking up in the morning, so while i was asleep, the guys walk around the track...

at around 8 we were already at the track, and the new addition to the crew...
1.KR (c/o Pilip)
2.Mark (fortis)
3.Uly (fortis)
4.PeeGee
5. Carlo

Im looking for a pic in which you guys were all there ( can't find one).

Here's some highlights:

Voter's application?... Nope. RWYB round 4 registration.
Shout out to Patrick Sison who let me drive potpot (94' Mitsubishi Lancer EL 1300 cc).
Bracketing for potpot
F: 1'03" -Benj Go
E: 1'00" -Patrick Sison
D: 58" -AJ Lacambra ( got my qualifying at 58.92 and 58.73)

yes, you are right. Potpot drove 3 classes that day, which means 3 qualifying sessions, 3 runs for heat 1, 3 runs for heat 2. for every run Potpot has a hot lap, 2 timed laps, and a cooldown. count how many times did potpot ran that day... (sigh.. lost count, hehehe...)

of course thanks also to Benj who let us use his ad07 for track day! cheers to you and patrick!

Now, anybody will think its like raping a car that day... which i think what Potpot had felt. during the first heat, Potpot has its carb piston stuck on FULL THROTTLE during my session!... it was scary... entering the sweeping left (turn 2) with full throttle going to chicane! imagine that ;P

I got a hold of the situation using left foot braking.... and while i was doing the braking.. was slamming the accelerator (was thinking the accel cable was stuck not the piston, hoping slamming the accel pedal will release the stuck up, which it did!)

so i came in the pit and let my knight in shining armor, repair it. (its Jun.) I told the guys what i encountered, being a carb engine really not sure what happened... Jun checked the engine and says "its just the carb piston stucked... we just need carb cleaner" --- tadaaaa! its done...

Many thanks to Jun Alavaro! the driver of the year for 2009 RWYB! :D

Come lunchtime, thanks to Xtremely Xpresso for the pizza!

As you can see in the pic the size of their pizza is that big! it almost cover the whole of the hood of Jun's car but its not the only asset the Xtremely Xpresso has on their pizza. Its also yummy! Two whole pizza's were enough to make 16 hungry stomachs go "Burp"... hehehe...

After the siesta...
people were looking for places to sleep! hehehe.. .the food was that good!

before going to heat 2, was able to check how my first heat was..
Heat 1
Timed lap 1 58.30
Timed lap 2 58.29

pretty consistent... and taught of using the same lines still...
Heat 2
Timed lap 1 58.22 --- my new record for a 1300 car with trim
Timed lap 58.28

and now the results:
Its our first timer on 2nd place on bracket G 1'06". KR (the female wearing Toyota shirt)

Fresh from US, Benj Go, who let us use his Neova AD07. 1st Place on Bracket F 1'03".

On bracket E 1'00" on 2nd place PeeGee!(wearing brown) and on 1st place Pilip! (wearing red)

I'm on bracket D 58'22", took 2nd place .

Sir Edwin on bracket B 54'00"

Thank you guys!

Realizations... and Rants.. just bear it... hehehe...

It just struck me, there's ceiling a "tipid racer" will bump into. regardless of the skill he has, a car will move not go beyond its limits, so what a driver can do is always be at the limit of the car to achieve the best possible time

But a daily driven lancer with 120 BHP, r1 coilover, (dead damper) and evo brakes, 15's 195/55/15 neova's will only run 51.XX sec on track. and to achieve it my balls are literally at my neck and that im "in the game". been hitting 53.XX s lately...

I have found that to be able to achieve 4X.XX secs, i would need to strip my car of AC, power steering, trim, and probably fiberglass all removable panels, then purchase intermediate tires.
2nd option is to go turbo and lightening, etc...

but it would defeat "tipidracing's ideal", which is to be competitive yet affordable.

Call it sour graping or whatever, its really injustice to fight with superlightened b16, d16T, b18 Honda's, Subaru's with 200 whp with all the intermediate tires they use. I think time bracketing losses the realization of who has the skills.

people may say, its about being precise on the bracket, but really, please tell me, how can you become faster if you're not aiming for a faster time, and what you are aiming for is just a repeat of what you've done the last time?

its not easy to kickass without burning money in Class A or fastest time... i should have just stayed in Class B on my 1.6 SOHC 90 whp with 54.XX sec lap time and go with the flow about being precise...

My 3rd 4g63 Engine... Darn!

After opening Tammy's engine, this is what welcomed us... plus signs of hot spotting on cylinder 3, the piston and head have this rough and almost pimple like of dents on piston. Plus the block itself needs some rebuilding itself. So We ordered another engine for tammy

I grew tired of not having a reliable engine, and what tammy looks, honestly she has so many scratches, dents, dents, etc... can't bear what she looks right now...

so she's in for a paint upgrade... still thinking if i should stay on Anzhal triple 888 or totally change her color. what do you think?

To the moon and back on a trailer truck

So we know that Tammy broke down when im on my way to subic, hence i need to leave him behind going back to Santa Rosa...

I asked favor from Pilip (Child Of Owner of Philem Enterprise Inc. in Subic, hehehe) to park Tammy for a while in their compound, while i look for a tow truck

I was able to source out a tow truck and have Tammy delivered to Las Pinas...
